Last week, M.M. spent his entire morning snowblowing each driveway in the neighborhood. What a surprise for everyone that came home from work that night, expecting to have to face that task and finding it had already been done!!
L.L. emailed me about a positive experience that she had while at work. She tells me..
" I sat down with an elderly co-worker who has been going through a lot in her life. I just asked the right questions and listened. After about 15 minutes-she thanked me for caring. It put a smile on her face and mine as well!"
City snow plows have been busy, busy, busy this winter. After a recent storm, a city plow crew came through and did a really thorough job in cleaning up my street. I made sure to email the Streets Department to say thank you to them for a job well done. I know they get lots of complaints all the time, but I wanted them to know that I appreciate the great work they had done!!
M.M. and K.M. donated homemade stew to a homeless shelter last week. E.J. donated some dessert to this shelter as well. On these cold and long winter days we are all hopeful that a nice meal will help those families that are in a rough spot.
E.M., M.B.J., and K.M worked very hard to peel, chop and cut food to be used to make a nutritious soup for a couple that are in need of much help and support to make it through their days right now.
This was an easy task considering how hard these people are working to reclaim their health and life.
I am proud to report that we as a family have reached an important milestone in this journey. We collectively have completed #26 Acts of Kindness. If you remember we are all being challenged to reach 26 Acts of Kindness individually but in my mind reaching our first 26 acts together is something to celebrate!! With our challenge only starting just over a month ago we have already done a lot of wonderful things for those around us. A kind note, a helpful gesture, a big donation, and lending a helpful hand for support are just a few ways we have tried to make a difference. I hope you continue to be inspired to see the good in the world and to see how big of an impact a small gesture can have on someone's day.
Please take a look at the video that I have included in this post. I think it is a great way to reflect on why we agreed to be a part of the #26 Acts of Kindness challenge. I am so proud to call all of you my family!! I love you all more than you will ever know.

Act of Kindness #25 H.C. has been a busy busy boy coloring and creating some beautiful cards for his friends. These thoughtful art projects take a lot of time and effort. The lucky recipients are sure to feel special when they get this surprise in their mailbox. Good work buddy!! ************* Act of Kindness #26
K.M: "I received outstanding, professional service at a lower quality, unprofessional big box store. I was so amazed by this cashier’s great attitude, professionalism and attention to service. I looked up the phone number to the store. I called the store. I held on the line. I reported to management what an asset this lovely woman named Becci was. Management was thrilled to receive this kind of call. I bet Becci will be thrilled. I am hoping that she gets a really good parking space for employee of the month and I am happier because of this experience today. Oh yeah!"
Have you ever done this? If not try it...it is so rewarding to call a store to report A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. It honestly just makes everyone's day better because this good deed is just so unexpected!!
KM was inspired by CH and decided that the people she volunteered with needed a cold January morning treat. She brought in cookies from a local, old fashioned bakery to share ... iced molasses cookies, date filled cookies, ice box cookies, peanut butter cookies....yum!
